創作理念

「生活痕跡」系列
創作動機來自對於生長土地的情感。因高中與大學七年都在台南念書,每次回到高雄看到城市地貌不斷地在更新。當漆著防水漆的建築牆面、蓋著鐵皮的屋頂的老舊透天厝開始消失,水泥大樓取代原本在這塊土地的老透天厝。老透天厝,等待著一波接著一波建案的汰換。我試圖從生活中觀察家鄉的變化,聚焦在土地的變化、消逝與更新。90年代後,有許多新式的樓房完建,但台灣的都市風貌中,仍然處處留有著透天老屋。近幾年高雄路上也在常看到相鄰幾戶的舊透天整個打掉,工程車往地下挖深作為大樓的地基。這些在城市裡的工程景觀與未被打掉的透天處外牆所留下來的居住痕跡特別吸引我觀看。廚房的磁磚圖案、壁紙花色、房間所漆上的水泥漆顏色、牆面上反覆的黏貼和殘留在牆上的膠帶痕跡、門上的春聯更是承載著美好意象,像是因為不同習慣所產生的氧化痕跡,而這些痕跡留下成為記憶的風景。但這些老透天厝仍然難逃不了世代的改變及現實層面而日漸消失。看著住家附近那些透天厝一間一間的被打掉。這樣的改變不論好或壞,我用創作記錄下這個時代變遷過程,再現台灣在地文化的特殊性,呈現台灣的文化符碼與文化現象。

「家屋」系列
建築的外觀是一種形式的語言。在發展成熟的文化中建築的形式帶有大量的意義,反映了社會的價值觀念,傳達了很多無法用語言說明的訊息。台灣長期以來受外來文化影響,建築混雜各種文化價值而且以自由的樣式呈現。其中透天住宅上常有多元文化的建築元素拼貼,甚至有許多加蓋或是臨時性的構成。建築體表達了不同的訊息也展現了社會型態和文化價值。建築的年齡伴隨了故事與文化的沉澱這是無可取代的。在這現實面的思潮下,過去的記憶與歷史的痕跡將會一點一點的消失掉了。透過觀察與紀錄逐漸消失的房子,再以藝術創作的方式建構出社會、地景、日常、價值觀與意識形態,詮釋地方的表情與人之間的關係。

「Trace of Life」

The creation motive came from the affection for hometown. Artist studied in Tainan during high school and college. Every time when she was back to Kaohsiung, she found that the urban landscape was changing constantly. Building walls with waterproof paint and terraced house with metal rooftop began to disappear, whichwere replaced by cement buildings as new property developments sprouting up. Artist tried to observe the variation of hometown from daily life and focus on the changing,dying and updating occurred on the land.After 90’s, there were plenty of new buildings finished, while old terraced houses still existed in Taiwan’s cityscape, However, in Kaohsiung, recently these old townhouses were torn down and trucks dug the foundation of tall building instead. These construction scenes and the trace of living on the outer wall of remaining terraced houses were very attractive to the artist. The pattern on tiles of kitchen, the color of wall paper, the color of cement paint painted in the room, the mark of tape repeated used on the wall and spring couplet on doors were filled with beautiful image, as if these marks were created by different living habit, which became a scenery in memory.
Nevertheless, these old buildings were still disappearing gradually due to reality and changing of generation. Witnessing those building nearby being torn down, for better or worse, the artist record the process of time changing, reproducing the special local culture, exhibiting culture code and cultural phenomenon of Taiwan.

「Home」
The Appearance of architecture is also one kind of language. In a well-developed culture, architecture form bears a great deal of meaning, reflecting social value,conveying plenty of message which couldn’t be described with words.Taiwan is influenced by foreign culture for a long time. Therefore, buildings blend various cultural value, which is presented in complete liber form, especially terraced house in Taiwan, which contains architectural elements from multiple-culture, and even includes rooftop additions and temporary structure. Buildings express different
messages and reveal social form and cultural value.It is inevitable that buildings become aged with stories and culture accumulating.
From the perspective of reality, past memory and trace if history will gradually disappear. By means of observing and recording these buildings, the artist re-constructed the society, landscape, daily life, value and ideology with art creation,interpreting the relation between landscape and people.
